Space/Unity
In photography unity is shown when the image equals a whole and space refers to both positive and negative space. Positive space is is the area occupied by the subject and negative space is the empty areas around the subject. Unity is where all elements of an image work together making the image feel complete and unified.
In this photo I was able to use space and unity by having the entire strawberry in the frame. the photo was a little bit boring with a pain background so I decided to add some of the strawberry leaves for texture.

Shape/Contrast
In photography shape refers to the appearance of an object/subject, defined by its boundaries and outlines. Shape can be used to crate visual interest points and guide the viewers eye, leading to patterns and designs within the photo. Contrast is the difference in brightness and colour within the photo, it makes objects/subjects more distinguishable and adds depth.
In this photo I used the apples and oranges as my shape, while they are all the same circular shape flipping the apples upside down made the photo more diverse because the orange and apples don’t look the exact same. I was able to use contrast by using town opposite colours and textures.

Texture/Emphasis
In photography texture refers to the surface quality or perceived feel of an object through an image with vibrations in colour, shape, and depth. Emphasis is what draws the viewers eye to a specific subject or element, making it stand out amongst the rest.
In this photo I was a able to add texture by taking the photo with a macro lens. I used emphasis by slightly blurring the lower leaves on the plant which guides the viewers eye to the top center.

Colour/Movement and Rhythm
In photography colour impacts the overall mood of a photo, light allows one to differentiate between two identical objects by either lightening or darkening the object. Movement is when you capture motion -either frozen or blurred- creating a sense of movement through composition. you can do this by altering the shutter speed to go faster or slower, this will also effect the lighting of the photo.
In this photo I made the picture black and white then edited it to only pop the colour red, I was able to show movement in this photo by by slowing down the shutter speed giving the image a slight blur.

Value/Balance
In photography value is used when focusing on how light or dark a colour or area appears. Value refers to the lightness or darkness of a colour or area in an image, showing all of the different shades or scale from black to white. Balance is when all of the elements within the frame equal a whole, the photo offers a sense of stability through asymmetrical or symmetrical distribution of visual weight.
I was able to achieve using value and balance in my photo by using the different shades of orange from the sunset as value and the subtle glow around the silhouette gives balance to the photo.

Space/Texture
In photography unity is shown when the image equals a whole and space refers to both positive and negative space. Positive space is is the area occupied by the subject and negative space is the empty areas around the subject. In photography texture refers to the surface quality or perceived feel of an object through an image with vibrations in colour, shape, and depth.
This photo was originally going to be used for Space/Unity, but because I used a macro lens it worked better for texture because of the detailing on the strawberry that the lens picked up.
